Villa Pond website

Hi all,

Welcome to the Villa Pond website, we are a coarse fishing pond a little North of York in the UK.

We bought the pond (really a small lake) in July 2008 and we have really enjoyed meeting a wide range of fishermen (and women) of all ages. We quickly came to the conclusion that we did not wish to make our fortunes out of the pond by holding matches but would provide quiet, top quality fishing in an attractive setting instead. One of the really impressive things about Villa Pond is the quality of the fish; take a look at the pictures in the gallery section to see what we mean. Please dip your net in the tanks provided and treat the fish with respect to avoid damage to them.

As part of our desire to give a good fishing experience to our customers we have made an arrangement with Willow House Caravan Park next door. They allow us to use their excellent toilets and we have access to the superb cafe where their bacon butties are second to none! They do all kinds of food and drinks to take away and we reccommend a visit. If you are concerned about leaving your gear by the bank side, we will be happy to watch it for you for 10 minutes when we are doing our rounds.

If you would like us to put photographs of the fish that you have caught at Villa Pond in our gallery please email them to jolyon@villapond.co.uk.

We hope you enjoy our website and fishing at Villa Pond, if you have any comments about either we will be pleased to hear them.

Tight lines !

Thank you for your kind comments. Over the winter period we planted about 150 trees. We have two rows to the West and one on the East. They are Italian Alder which grow quite quickly and retain their leaves quite a long time into late autumn. I am afraid that you will not see any benefit for a couple of years but eventually they will look really good and will form a wind and noise break. They have been planted far enough back so they will not interfere with the fishing or shed their leaves in the water.
We are very proud of the condition of the fish and you may have noticed that we have introduced an extra rule about how the fish are handled.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your fishing at Villa Pond.

I have been fishing this venue for four years, and since the new owners have taken over I have seen much improvement, previously I have seen youths coming onto the pond in between inspections, fishing floating bread, no landing nets just dragging the fish up the bank not paying, and dashing off again I approached them myself but got swore at.
Now the pond is patrolled regularly, making it a safe environment for the angler and the fish,
I have netted 30 to 60 lbs of fish on a good day and all those caught were in pristine condition.
Congratulations and keep up the good work..

i strongly encourage anyone to fish here. the owners are very friendly and will always try to help you out. if your after a nice days fishing, quality hard-fighting fish, nice surroundings and a lake that fishes well in winter, then this is the place to be.

Hi Carol and Jolyon First may I say what a fantastic setup you have at Villa pond, I was on the verge of giving up fishing until you opened last year. I had forgotten how it could be such a pleasureable and exciting sport.
Yesterday (18/8) I was trying to enjoy a days fishing but felt a bit unwell, your concern and of course landing a nine pounder cheered me up no end, but most of all, a young angler and his Dad had some bad news and had to pack up, without hesitation Jolyon refunded his fees,to me that was a superb jesture and deserved recognition, Jolyon was very embarassed when I mentioned it, but it put my faith back into the human race.
10/10 for both of you, keep up the good work and I will still keep looking for the “big-un ”
Regards Ray Grosvenor
